CHORAL SONG

CHORAL SINGING COURSE
curated by Stefano Campetta - March / May 2015

When it comes to music, and especially singing, we often hear statements such as "I'm out of tune" or "I don't have rhythm", etc.
For Stefano Campetta there are no people who are "out of tune" a priori or who do not go to time because they are not capable of it. What we produce with our voice is the reaction to a listening and presence process. So, to learn to sing, you need to learn to listen.
During the "Cori" course we will try to refine the awareness of ourselves towards the community, respect for group dynamics, critical listening to oneself and others.

The goal of the workshop is to make people understand, through choral singing, that the final result of an opear does not come from a simple summation of the parts but is generated by the interaction between them and the continuous agreement with each other, through listening, and according to this to make their own contribution (interplay). We then arrive at a collective performance: an event that exists only within a group dimension.

LESSONS:
LESSON 1 - Aware listening: understanding of the sound scenario and of the single vocal instruments
LESSON 2 - Common breath: being there and sharing
LESSON 3 - Singing and stage presence: awareness of one's own "sound" within the group
LESSON 4 - Choral improvisation: collective interaction through choral singing
LESSON 5 - Array: listening to the other and to oneself is expressed in the sharing of steps in a stage space
LESSON 6 - Creative music theory: singing the musical scales associating them with collective knowledge
LESSON 7 - Harmonization: relationship between melodic lines
LESSON 8 - Mood: identifying and creating collective intention in improvisation
LESSON 9 - Structuring a piece and an improvisation
LESSON 10 - Coralizing a scene: interpreting a theatrical stage context through the choralization
